What
happens if I get hurt, have an accident or feel unwell?
You should
report to the medical room (opposite the Library). The nurses
will help you and you will feel better in no time.
Are
there any councils that I would be able to join
Yes there
are councils you will be able to join and attend regularly.
You have a choice of two: the School Council where we think
of ideas to improve the things that we do at school; and the
Eco Council where we try to improve the school environment.
Tell
me about Homework?
- Homework
should be done the day you get set the homework
- You usually
get set 2-3 pieces of homework each day
- Each day
you will do 1-1.5 hours of homework
- You must
write your homework in your homework diary
- Your homework
diary also has your 2 week timetable in it so you can check
this to pack your bag for the next day of school
- If you
get a detention the teacher will write it in your homework
diary
- The homework
diary is one of the most important books you will need in
school.

much homework on average should you get a day?
On most days
you should get three different types of homework
But regularly teachers will not give you homework so you could get less
On some days you will only be scheduled two types of homework

long should homework take?
Most of the
homework should only take 30 minutes
Some homework is not a lot so it will take less time

you do Homework at school and where could you go?
Yes you can
do homework at school
If it is on the computer you can visit the library, DT computer room or the
IT suites
If it is not on the computer you can visit the library

do you record the homework you get?
You will be
given a homework diary with your timetable in and your homework
timetable.
How
can I keep my valuables safe?
What
do you do with your valuables when you are doing PE?
You bring £1.00
with you and you can put them in a PE locker You can put them
inside a black metal box which the PE department take care of
Where
do you put your valuables?
When you are
carrying around your valuables you put them inside your blazer
preferably inside the zipper pocket.
What
valuables do you advise we don’t bring?
Don’t
bring not needed valuables, be sensible
What
valuables do you advise we do bring?
Your mobile
phone, locker key and a little money.
How
big should my school bag be?
- Your bag
should be a reasonable size, big enough to hold about 10 books
plus your packed lunch if you have one.
- You will
need a bag for PE which is big enough to fit a small dog,
as you will have tracksuits, a thick rugby top, football boots,
shorts and your small athletics top.
- Remember
it is handy to have a locker. Lockers cost £10.00 for a year, £25.00
for 3 years. Remember you get a key - keep it safe!
How
do I avoid unnecessary accidents
at school?
- Do not
run on the drive (up the right from the school entrance) as
cars come and go from there.
- Obey the
one-way systems (except they do change during exams).
- Do not
run in the corridors as you might slip or crash into someone.
- Do not
go into the carpark unless you are being dropped off or picked
up.
How
do the teachers
tell you off for scruffy uniform and bad behaviour?
At the beginning
of the year you get given an appearance and conduct card (uniform
card) which must be kept in your blazer pocket (if it isn’t
in there you could get a detention). The card has little boxes
and these will be signed by members of staff for the following:
- Your top
button undone
- Your shirt
untucked
- Your tie
being shorter or longer five or six stripes.
Behaviour signatures
are for:
- Walking
the wrong way through the one way system
- Running
in the corridor
- Walking
in out of bounds places
- Pushing
and shoving in the lunch queue.
